Best for
Players who want one always-on box at the front or end of the board that does three jobs: a boost/preamp voiced after the Roland RE-150 Space Echo preamp (via Mile End's Preamp 150 circuit), a high-headroom buffer, and switchable harmonic enhancement. Especially suited to tape-echo-preamp tone chasers and to anyone who wants a set-and-forget tone conditioner rather than another gain pedal — with all four switches off it works as a standalone buffer.
Who should skip
Anyone wanting fine-grained tone control: shaping is done with four fixed-voice rocker switches (Boost, Brilliance, High Freq, Low Freq) plus a single Level knob — there is no variable gain or sweepable EQ. Also skip it if your power supply is maxed out: at 250 mA it draws far more than a typical boost or buffer, and many isolated supply outputs rated at ~100 mA per tap won't run it.
Watchouts
The footswitch disengages the buffer when the pedal is off — bypassed, it is not buffering your line, so don't count on it to drive long cable runs while switched off. The 250 mA current draw is the most common integration snag; a shared daisy-chain or low-rated isolated tap may brown it out.
