Best for

Desktop hybrid-synth workflows needing six independently routable digital-oscillator/analogue-filter voices, flexible multitimbral allocation, deep modulation, onboard sequencing and a manufacturer-defined PVX Polovoks low-pass filter configuration.

Who should skip

Skip it if you need an integrated keyboard, USB audio or USB MIDI, stereo mix output, dedicated headphone output, CV/gate control, more than six voices, or published PVX filter topology and calibration details before purchase.

Watchouts

PVX is the exact filter-card option, but the cards are not visible in the reviewed exterior images and the Xena page does not publish their detailed topology. Do not substitute Xena_wht identifiers from the 4P sibling. The instrument has no integrated keyboard, and USB, CV/gate, stereo mix and headphone connections are not published.

Likely add-ons

  • MIDI keyboard, sequencer or other 5-pin DIN MIDI source
  • 1/4-inch audio cable from the mono mix output, or additional cables for individual voice outputs
  • mixer, audio interface, amplifier or powered speakers
  • MIDI cable
  • manufacturer-approved replacement power adapter only if the included supply is unavailable

Verify before buying

  • Is the PVX Polovoks low-pass filter option the intended Xena configuration?
  • Is a six-voice, potentially six-part desktop workflow sufficient?
  • Is a mono mix output acceptable, or are the six individual outputs required?
  • Are 5-pin DIN MIDI and an external keyboard/sequencer available?
  • Which firmware ships and does it support the required Ambika-compatible features?
